Excellence in early education since 1975.

The Shanta Gattani Pre-School (formerly known as the Alok Memorial School) is an early education institution in Jaipur Rajasthan. The school was founded in 1975 by Mrs. Shanta Gattani. Mrs. Gattani was a great advocate of early education. When she opened the school, it was the first private elementary preparatory school in Jaipur.

The Shanta Gattani Pre-School has always been and remains dedicated to academic excellence and student success. The school curriculum is aimed at strengthening the basic learning skills quantitatively and qualitatively in Hindi, English and Mathematics. We create an atmosphere for learning so that children accept education with readiness and joy.

More on our founder, the late Mrs. Shanta Gattani

Mrs. Gattani attended the prestigious Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi and earned a Masters in Hindi and Sanskrit and the equivalent of Ph.D. in Hindi called Sahitya Ratan. In 1948, she married Dr. M.L. Gattani a renowned, Plant Pathologist and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. Mrs. Gattani’s teaching career began shortly thereafter when she held the position of Associate Professor of Sanskrit at the Women’s University Club beginning in 1956.

On her return to India in 1964 she moved to Jaipur and taught Hindi and Sanskrit at the MGD Girls School in Jaipur to both middle and high school girls.

Seeing a need for improved early education, she started her own primary educational school which simply emphasized learning basic qualitative and quantitative skills in Hindi, English and Math. She made an effort to create a fun atmosphere to maximize engagement and retention.

Her main goal was to strengthen every child’s basic learning skills or “the base” as she fondly termed it. Her story of empowering young children from all walks of life was a testament to her pioneering philosophy which endeavored her subordinates to open many such coaching centers and large schools in the city of Jaipur.

Her aim was not to make her institution a big one and earn a lot of money but enhance the lives of her students by preparing them for a successful career in life.

She remained committed to philanthropy and empowerment of women in local causes and gained immense self respect in the local community.

Mrs. Gattani passed away in March, 2014 having diagnosed with throat cancer and the school continues to impart her philosophy under the direction of qualified teachers who have had a chance to work with Mrs. Gattani in person and with an average of 12 years of direct learning experience under her tutelage

The School’s alumni have spread all across the globe with success in theater, writing, medicine, engineering, science, governance and media. Local alumni still enroll their children in her institution which is a true testament to her legacy.
